Granite State Senior Games - August 2, 2008

The Granite State Senior Games for athletes over 50 years of age will be held

July 30 thru August 17.

 

Of particular interest to Racquetball players is the Racquetball event to be

held on Saturday, August 2nd at 9 AM at the Executive Health Club in

Manchester, NH.

 

Divisons are in 5 year increments i.e. 50-54, 55-59, 60- 64 etc...

Age group placement is determined by your age as of December 31, 2008

Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, places.

 

The Senior Games extends a special invitation to women.

 

This year for the first time, doubles will be offered using the same age categories.

For Doubles the age of the youngest player determines the age bracket.

 

There are No MIXED Doubles. You can play Men’s or Women’s Doubles

as well as singles.

 

The players finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age division qualify for the

National Senior Games in the San Francisco Bay area August 1 thru 15, 2009

 

Entries postmarked by July 24th will require a fee of $25.00 for NH residents

and $35.00 for non-residents.

Entries postmarked after July 24th will be charged an additional $5.00 late fee.

 

The entry fee qualifies you to play, not only racquetball, but any of the other

15 events offered.

 

In addition to the tournament you will get a “Goodie” bag, plus T-shirt and a hat.

Also, you and a guest are eligible to attend the Athlete Social on Friday

evening August 8th from 6-8 PM at the Chateau Restaurant, corner of Hanover and

and Union Streets in Manchester.

There will be a light buffet, fellowship and entertainment.

New Hampshire Juniors working to get to Junior Nationals

Local junior racquetball players are doing whatever it takes to earn money to get themselves to the 2008 Junior Nationals in Concord, California from June 25-29, 2008. They recently held a raffle for Red Sox tickets donated by Mike Nader of Coors. 
   Pictured here is the raffle winner Dave Breton. Presenting the winning ticket to Dave is Tucker Gettel and Ryan & Chris Francis.

Their next fundraising event will be a car wash held on May 17 (raindate May 24) in the parking lot of the Executive Health & Sports Center in Manchester.

End of the 2007-1008 Racquetball Season

Unfortunately the Granite State Challenge Cup has been cancelled due to a lack of interested players. NHRA would like to thank everyone for a great racquetball season.

Because the Granite Sate Challenge Cup was cancelled the Juniors did not get a chance to raffle off their donated Red Sox tickets. You can purchase raffle tickets by contacting Kaz Francis at kaz_taz@comcast.net. The raffle will help local juniors attend the Junior National tournament in June. Thanks to Mike Nader of Coors for donating the Red Sox Tickets!!  The Red Sox tickets are for the June 3 game verus the Tampa Bay Rays and are in section 9 row B. 2008 New England Regional Singles Championships

NHRA will once again this year host the New England Regional Singles Championships at the Nashua Athletic club in Nahusa. The event is expected to draw over 150 of the areas top racquetball players. This years event will allow players to play in 3 events including some doubles divisions as well as the full complement of singles skill level and age level divisions. Join us for a full weekend of racquetball good food and a good time with racquetball players from all the New England States.

The Regional is a qualifying event for the National Singles Championships which is will be held at the YMCA in Houston, Texas May 21 - 26.

Mitch Nathanson Classic Racquetball Tournament Returns!!!

The 2008 Mitch Nathanson Classic Racquetball Tournament returns to Executive Health & Sports Center in Manchester on January 25 through 27. This years tournament offers over $7,000 in cash and prizes. In the past this event has helped raise over $30,000 to help promote racquetball to juniors throughout the New England area. Also, in the past years the tournament has had 350 players and over 1000 spectators throughout the weekend.

For those new to this tournament the Mitch Nathanson Classic was named after Mitch Nathanson who died in 1991 in a tragic car accident. Mitch was an accomplished racquetball player and devoted countless hours to helping kids learn how to play. The Mitch Nathanson Foundation, a 510(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to help encourage the develpment and improvement of junior racquetball and to teach children the qualities that Mitch represented: Friendship, Sportsmanship and Selflessness.

2007 - 2008 Tournament and Events Schedule Announced

We know you all have been asking and patiently waiting for a complete season schedule and we are finally able to have one for you. You will notice by the schedule the return of the Mitch Nathanson Classic!! You will also notice that there are some new and different events this year that we believe will make for a fun season and better racquetball. We have several Ladies Nights scheduled as well as Demo Nights. This year the State Singles and State Doubles will be combined into the same tournament as well as Regional Doubles and Regional Singles. And finally there are more tournaments that do not take up the whole weekend and run either saturday only or friday night - saturday.

2007 - 2008 New Hampshire Racquetball Season is Open

Welcome to the 2007 - 2008 Season. We hope you had a great summer and are ready for a great tournament season. This season is starting off with a Ladies night Friday September 14 at Executive Health & Sports club in Manchester. The tourament is open to any ladies that are interested at any level of play and from inside or outside New Hampshire. These events have been very successful in the past and the food and people are great!
